    The Culture of Sufism & Qawali in Indian Subcontinent

Introduction:

          The roots of Sufism in Indian Subcontinent go back to the classical Islamic Spiritual traditions evolved during 9th to 11th centuries in Arabia & Persia & gradually reached India in 12th century. It popularized 'Tarikaa' & 'Tauheed' as the methodology of gaining its final destination i.e. 'Makaam'. In particular, Chishti tradition occupied significant place in Indian subcontinent. Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, also known as Hazarat Khwaja Garib Nawaz, came to Ajmer around 1236 AD. Later on, Kaki, Baba Farid, Nizamuddin Auliya & other notable saints developed Sufi tradition in India.

           Sufism is not a teaching but rather an experience. Sufi practice 'Jeekar' & 'Samaa' music as the means of unifying with the Almighty. There are rules regarding the organisation of 'Samaa' as per time, venue & participants. In the entire Indian subcontinent, Qawali has become the visiting card of musical presentation of Sufi arts. Dance as such has no basic form in Sufism. Dancing and shouting like lunatics during 'Samaa' is an indication of agony of soul, known as 'Haal'. Qawali, the language of soul, is instrumental in such experiences.

With time, Sufi tradition underwent major changes. Qawali developed as a profession apart from Durgah & Khankaha.

           The serious academic deliberations of all these situations is the main purpose of organising this international webinar.

भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप में सूफ़ीवाद और क़व्वाली की संस्कृति ।

प्रस्तावना :

        भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप में सूफ़ीवाद की जड़ें उस इस्लामिक परमानंद प्राप्ति की उस शास्त्रीय परंपरा में है जो अरब और फ़ारस में 09 वीं से 11 वीं सदी के बीच विकसित हुई और धीरे-धीरे 12 वीं शताब्दी के बाद भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप में आयी । “तरीक़ा” और “तौहीद” के माध्यम से ईश्वर से एकाकार होने की सूफ़ी पद्धति लोकप्रिय हुई । “मकाम” इसका चरम स्थल है । भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप में चिश्तिया परंपरा बड़ी महत्वपूर्ण रही । सूफ़ी संत मोईनुद्दीन चिश्ती जो कि हज़रत ख्वाजा गरीब नवाज़ के नाम से जाने जाते हैं वे अजमेर में सन 1236 के आस-पास आये । इसी परंपरा में काकी, बाबा फ़रीद और निज़ामुद्दीन औलिया जैसे अनेकों सूफ़ी संत हुए जिनसे पूरे भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप में सूफ़ीयाना संस्कृति को बढ़ावा मिला ।

       सूफ़ीवाद सीखने से अधिक अनुभूति का विषय मानी गयी । “जीकर” और “समा” संगीत के माध्यम से सूफ़ी ईश्वर से एकाकार होने की राह में आगे बढ़ते हैं । “समा” के आयोजन में समय, स्थान और लोग इत्यादि को लेकर नियम रहे हैं । पूरे  भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप में सूफ़ी कलाओं की संगीतमय प्रस्तुति क़व्वाली की पहचान बन गयी । नृत्य का सूफियों के यहाँ कोई बुनियादी स्वरूप नहीं मिलता । “समा” के समय पागलों की तरह नाचना, चिल्लाना इत्यादि आत्मा की छटपटाहट मानी गयी है । ऐसी अवस्था को “हाल” कहते हैं । ऐसी अनुभूतियों के लिए तैयार होने में क़व्वाली सहायक होती है । क़व्वाली की भाषा आत्मा की भाषा मानी जाती रही है ।

      समय के साथ पूरी सूफ़ी परंपरा में बड़े बदलाव हुए । क़व्वाली भी दरगाहों और ख़ानकाहों से निकलकर एक व्यवसाय के रूप में बढ्ने लगी । इन्हीं सब स्थितियों, परिस्थितियों का गंभीर अकादमिक अध्ययन व विवेचना इस अंतरराष्ट्रीय वेबिनार का मुख्य उद्देश्य है ।

ऐसे ही किसी अन्य विषय पर शोधपत्र पूर्व अनुमति के साथ तैयार किया जा सकता है । शोध आलेख हिन्दी और अँग्रेजी में भेजे जा सकते हैं । शोध आलेख 2000 शब्दों से अधिक नहीं होना चाहिए । हिन्दी के शोध आलेख यूनिकोड मंगल में ही होने चाहिए । अँग्रेजी के आलेख टाइम्स रोमन में ही हो । फॉन्ट साइज 12 ही रखें । आलेख की वर्ड फाइल ईमेल द्वारा भेजें । आलेख के अंत में अपना नाम, पद नाम और संपर्क की अन्य जानकारी अवश्य लिखें । आलेख निम्नलिखित ईमेल पर ही भेजें : sufismwebinar@gmail.com

              चुने गये शोध आलेखों को ISBN पुस्तक के रूप में यथासमय प्रकाशित किया जायेगा । फ़िर भी इस संदर्भ में अंतिम निर्णय का पूरा अधिकार महाविद्यालय को होगा ।
